When I opened McMullen in 2007, it began with an idea and a small storefront on Piedmont Avenue in Oakland. I didn't have a roadmap, but I had a vision and a point of view. I believed there was a different way to build a store, one that put the client first, and one that made room for brands and voices other spaces had overlooked.

Nearly two decades later, I'm still building toward that idea. And in October 2026, it takes on a new form: McMullen will open its flagship at 135 Maiden Lane in San Francisco.

Maiden Lane is one of the most storied streets in the city, a quiet pedestrian lane in the heart of Union Square that has long been home to fashion, art, and design. The moment I walked the space, I knew. Two floors. 6,342 square feet. Light that shifts throughout the day. A street that asks you to slow down.

We are designing the flagship with Gabriella Khalil, whose work I have admired for years. The ground floor will feel like an invitation, a place to wander, discover, and linger. Somewhere you can sit with a book or a record before ever thinking about a garment. You may discover a new beauty brand or be introduced to an emerging artist. Upstairs is where the full McMullen edit comes home: ready-to-wear and accessories alongside private styling suites.

Sacramento Street is here to stay. That space will continue to be what it has always been: the warm, layered, personal heart of the brand. Maiden Lane is the fullest expression of everything we've built. The two stores will speak to one another, and to you, in different ways.

Most of all, Maiden Lane is for the people who have walked this journey with us. The designers who trusted me when I asked to carry their first collections. The clients who became friends. The team who shows up every day with care and intention. And the city of San Francisco, which has always made room for what is new, innovative, and creatively driven.
