The Assistant Buyer (AB) is responsible for assisting Sherri with the buying and merchandising of the business and creating opportunities to drive business. This position is open to local applicants only. The AB will be responsible for analyzing business based on trends and historical data, adhering to the Open to Buy (OTB) all while creating the best customer experience possible. The AB will attend select market appointments, work with sales teams and designers on purchase orders, swaps, exchanges, markdowns, RTV’s and manage flow of inventory.
The AB will be responsible for making sure all merchandise on the floor is tagged correctly and merchandised properly on the floor, working closely with sales team and shipping and receiving staff. AB is responsible for creating pricing and markdown strategies based on sales goals, merchandising direction for the store and all business strategies to drive sales. This includes creating a promotional and markdown calendar.
The overall objective for this role is to assist Sherri with her buys, merchandising, improve sales, productivity, and profitability through analysis, identifying new designer and category opportunities. To be successful in this role, you will need an eye for fashion and trends, strength in analytics, merchandising, marketing, vendor management, and leadership skills.
Assist with buying product for the store, identify category and designer opportunities to grow business
Assist with merchandising the store. Create merchandising flow based on inventory and receipts.
Manage relationships with vendors and designers
Monitor market trends, develop relevant fashion business insights (i.e., reading Business of Fashion daily and recapping any findings), understand consumer behavior
Develop buying calendar and set up market appointments. Identify new buying markets to explore
Coordinate samples for photoshoots, lookbooks and any promotional calendar. Create a pull sheet/sample request log.
Work with stylists and publications on pulls and editorial work, approved by Sherri
Inventory & Vendor Management
Create purchase orders, receive PO confirmations and enter orders into inventory management system according to the OTB
Assist in inventory assortments that support the needs of the customer and support financial objectives.
Ensure product is properly tagged and placed on the sales floor to optimize selling.
Create markdown and promotional strategies to drive business.
Analyze trends and historical data to help make buying decisions with Sherri, including weekly, monthly and seasonal reports
