Black Excellence Featuring Designers of Christopher John Rogers

For the month of February we are featuring some of our incredible black partners, celebrating their work and talents.

The Christopher John Rogers brand exists to create emotional & sensitive clothing with a focus on occasion dressing, directed towards a client with a strong sense of self.

Christopher John Rogers knew he had a love for fashion design after an assignment he had in elementary school designing costumes for his favorite superheroes. Since then, he has associated clothing with having superpowers, and has focused on designing clothing that makes women feel empowered, heroic, and capable of accomplishing anything. With these inspiring designs, he has dressed power-house women like Michelle Obama, Madam VP Kamala Harris, Tracie Ellis Ross, Lizzo, Gabrielle Union, Rihanna, Cardi B, and many more. Rogers and his team have their design studio based in New York. Rog

Q: What are you looking forward to this year in relation to your collections/work?

CJR: "The ability to continue to provide exciting art for our clients, and to show new customers that you can have fun with fashion and clothes. To show them that you shouldn't have to sacrifice your maturity or intelligence to do so. We believe that if you're naturally attracted to the work that you'll find a way to make it work for your and your lifestyle."

Q: If you had one iconic piece from your current collection what would it be?

CJR: "That we're a very small, focused team that aims to create archival, collectable, and novel pieces. These are works that you can't get from any other brand. The genesis of a lot of what we do is rooted in traditional dressmaking and couture ideas, but are made modern by imbuing our pieces with a heavy dose of pragmatism and reality. They're jubilant, challenging pieces, but they're wearable."
