Femme Gown

The Diotima Femme Gown is the collection’s most complete statement — a full-length nylon gown developed in collaboration with the Estate of Wifredo Lam, its colourway named directly for Femme-Cheval (1948), one of Lam’s most iconic works. The Umber ground carries prints drawn from both Femme-Cheval and La Marchese des îles (The Island Walker) (1944), Lam’s mythological, Afro-Caribbean imagery given new life across the surface of a gown that understands the weight of what it wears. At this level of cultural and material investment, the Femme Gown is less a garment than an artefact of a specific creative moment.
