Lou Skirt with Feathers

The Diotima Lou Skirt with Feathers is one of the most considered pieces in the collection — a wool skirt developed in collaboration with the Estate of Wifredo Lam, with prints drawn from two of the Cuban Surrealist’s most iconic works. The Island Walker colourway takes its name and its visual language from La Marchese des îles (The Island Walker) (1944), with further reference to Femme-Cheval (1948) — Lam’s mythological, Afro-Caribbean imagery translated into a surface print that gives the skirt a depth and cultural resonance that goes well beyond the sartorial. Feather trim at the hem amplifies the skirt’s ceremonial, totemic quality.
